This blog has been written as an update to my Japan ticketing blog here. Ticketing for Japan concert is very different from other places in the world so read through my initial blog first.

There is quite significant differences for EXplOration Japan 2019 ticketing method as compared to ElyXiOn in 2018 as detailed below;

Type of ticket (Paper Ticket to Live QR)

This is the most significant difference in ticketing. Previously, all tickets purchased will be issued as a paper ticket. Starting from EXO-CBX Magical Circus in 2019, tickets issuance have been changed to live QR. It’s “live” QR which means screenshot QR or printed version of the QR code is not accepted during entry to the venue. A valid live QR will have a box light circling it that keeps changing color.

Now using QR code, the tickets are availble even later than before to the buyers. The QR code will only be available 5 days before the concert and the actual seats will only be shown 3 hours before the start of the concert!

The QR code will be accessible from the website you have used to purchase the ticket from. No app needed!

Since it’s a QR code does this mean we cannot buy resale tickets anymore?

Rest assured, you can still buy ticket via resale portals or twitter. Based on EXO-CBX Magical Circus 2019 concert, no ID checks were performed. Even if they did perform checks you can always enter together with the seller/owner of the ticket.

In a way live QR is quite a convenient way for overseas fan for ticketing as you just save on international shipping of the paper tickets. The owner of the ticket can distribute the live QR to the buyer of the ticket via the lottery website itself for FC tickets, they only need your email address! I have received a ticket from a seller previously using this method and had no problem entering the venue.

I’ve never purchased non-FC tickets so I’m not sure whether distributing tickets are possible. Don’t worry too much about it since you can always enter with the seller.

Things to note:

• Have a working internet on-the-go to access the ticket
• Once the seller have distributed the ticket via email, receipt confirmation have to be done within 30 minutes.
• I can’t remember what kind of details are needed but at least prepare your name (in Japanese katakana and hiragana) and phone number (doesn’t need to be valid, just use your hotel number).
• After you have perform receival, you will become the new owner of the ticket and can access it via the website.

Lotteries website and announcement

Unfortunately as at the date I’m writing this (11 Sep 2019) all lotteries for Fanclub and General Sale have already ended. There might be further general sales lottery but I can’t be sure. I won’t be updating on it much but you can follow this very nice twitter @mamoribaek and @EXO_NEWS_JP. I recommend following both of them as EXO News might not update on all lotteries available. Ms mamoribaek is way more updated than the official website, kudos to her dedication (p/s: I love you)

Purchasing ticket via resale website

For purchases using resale websites, you can buy the ticket and receive the QR at a later date. All purchases will allow you to have a ticket chat board with the seller, in which you can discuss on how to receive the ticket. Most seller will probably distribute the ticket via email once the seat details have been finalised (3hrs before concert),

Account can be created for free and available to foreigners. For purchases of e-tickets, foreign credit card and paypal is not accepted. Payment has to be made via bank transfer or convenience store payment.

Usual package forwarder services like Tenso/from-japan cannot be used in these circumstances as they only accept physical item orders.

Use specialised proxy for tickets such as Bridge.jpn, or a personal shopper that can help you do the payment. Ask around!

The catch with resale websites is that the moment you click buy, you will have only 30mins window to make payment before your ticket is released. You can only buy from the same listing once. The moment you get auto cancelled from non-payment, you will not be able to re-buy the ticket.

My best bet to solve this issue is to ask the proxy/personal shopper to login to your account and click buy/make payment for you. Better yet get their advise on how to handle this! Ticketing proxy services like Bridge.jpn might have a way to handle this predicament too as they are a specialised proxy for ticket purchases. If anybody have experience please let me know! I was on a holiday in Japan during EXplOration FC lottery payment due date and so I made all the payments via convenience store myself, so I don’t have experience on this matter.

Have not personally used this, but have contacted to make payment for lottery before. Nice guy, fast response and definitely open to log-in to your account to make payment. Worldwide and accepts paypal

Suteki Shoppu
Have used for some payments in Japan using Convenience Store method. Definitely open to make payment at a charge and is Malaysian based. Accepts any Malaysian bank transfer. Not very sure about International payment method.

Twitter
The hashtag stays consistent with #EXOチケット . Try using different variants of this such as using EXO and チケット with a space and so on. The way tickets are listed are still the same as previous year.

The possibility of buying tickets on general sale

Previously, I would’ve stated that it is always possible to buy on general sale. Not this time, if you have not gotten a ticket, resale avenues is your best bet.

Unfortunately, the concert have been reduced in capacity by near half for Tokyo and Osaka dates as the venue chosen are much smaller than previous concerts.

• Tokyo: Previously at Saitama Super Arena (36,000), changed to Yokohama Arena (17,000)
• Osaka : Previously Kyocera Dome Osaka (55,000) changed to Osaka Castle Hall (16,000)
• Fukuoka : No change from prior year, to be held at Marine Messe Fukuoka (13,000)
• Miyagi : New location, first time in the area to be held at Miyagi Sekisui Heim Arena (7,000)

Note: The Yokohama and Osaka venue are the same as the one used for EXO-CBX Magical Circus Tour

Currently, the highest priced dates are for Yokohama Arena and Osaka Castle Hall dates. Resale tickets are going for at least ¥30,000 each which is almost triple the actual value.

Face value tickets or less than ¥15,000 tickets can still be obtained for Fukuoka and Miyagi Day 1 stop.

Don’t waste time and buy your tickets now! Since you won’t be able to know the seats til 3hours before the concert, there is no point in waiting til the last minute.
